Saunders International have successfully completed the fabrication and installation of the fire suppression system for the Aviation Fuel tank terminal at BP Bulwer Island which provides aviation fuel for both the Brisbane domestic and international terminals.
Excavation and installation of concrete structures for over 120 footings which supported the water and foam lines.
WATER & FOAM LINES
Fabrication of all pipe support structures and piping for all water and foam lines which consisted of both carbon and stainless steel totaling over 11,732 diameter inches of pipe.
COOLING RINGS & SPLASH PLATES
Fabrication and installation of the splash plates and cooling rings for 8 tanks totaling around 3,650 diameter inches of pipe.
PLATFORMS & HAND RAILS
Detailing, fabrication and installation of 18 platforms including handrails totaling over 21 tons of steel.
PROJECT MAIN RISKS & CONSTRAINTS
The project was executed in a Brownfield’s environment around existing services including the presence of aviation fuel. The project team worked under the BP permit system to ensure the work areas were safe at all times. Ship transfers were constantly being conducted which meant weekly coordination meetings between the project teams and operations.
