Saunders was awarded the Violet Street Bridge Replacement by repeat client Narrabri Shire Council, reinforcing continued confidence in the Company’s specialist civil infrastructure capability.
The project involves demolition of the existing bridge over Narrabri Creek and construction of a new 50-metre concrete and steel-reinforced bridge designed to improve safety, connectivity and resilience for the local community.
Construction is expected to commence in February 2026, with completion anticipated by late September 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.
The contract includes:
- Demolition of the existing bridge structure
- Construction of a new 50-metre concrete and steel-reinforced bridge
- Dual traffic lanes to improve flow and safety
- Shared pedestrian and cyclist pathways on both sides
- Upgraded road approaches and new overhead street lighting
- Improved flood resilience to reduce disruption during major weather events
